Brief text description Classification scheme sets boundary values for phosphorus, chlorophyll a and transparency (secchi depth).
Long text description Lake classification scheme based on expert evaluation of lake data. Classification defines boundary values of total phosphorus, chlorophyll and transparency (Secchi depth) between trophic classes from ultra-oligotrophic to hypereutrophic. The classification is based on data from a large number of lake types from regions across the globe, althoughthere was a pre-dominance of large, deep lakes in the original dataset. The classification scheme proposes both a fixed boudary system and an open boundary system. Furthermore, the classification scheme provides illustrative probability distribution curves for different trophic categories based on total phosphorus.
